I work with adults (18+). My therapy is always tailored around your needs through continual open and honest communication. Talking online, by phone or face-to-face in my counselling room based in Wimbledon we will work together in a safe and empathetic space so that you can discover the solutions within yourself.
Person Centred Therapy
This is a non-directive and empathic approach that empowers and motivates the client in the therapeutic process. The therapy is based on Rogers belief that everyone is the “expert on themselves” and given the right conditions, everyone can fulfil his or her own potential.
Pyschodynamic Therapy
This focuses on unconscious processes as they are manifested in present behaviour. The goals are client self-awareness and an understanding of the influence of the past, predominately childhood, on present behaviour and thought processes.
Additional Therapeutic Approaches
In the course of a counselling journey I may also use other approaches, skills and techniques such as:
Psychoeducational Approach - I provide clients with information and resources to help them understand why they are the way they are so they can manage their symptoms out side of our sessions and foster their own independence and growth.
Trauma Informed Approach - I always he level and type of trauma a client has experienced must be considered in terms of its impact on their Central Nervous System, so interventions will be paced to avoid re-traumatisation. I use the core principles of safety, choice, trustworthiness and empowerment, along with breathing and grounding techniques to help with stress, anxiety and trauma.
CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) - When the underlying thoughts and belief symptoms have been identified, we may also look at coping strategies via CBT techniques which can help clients change how they think and act.
